I am researching my grandfather's family who originated from Stockland and Membury. His name was Victor James Summers Bazley b.1875; my g.grandfather George Bazeley b. 1836 and g.grandmother Hannah Summers b. 1837; my g.g.grandfather George Bazeley b. 1808 and g.g.grandmother Sarah Bazeley (nee Aplin) b. 1808; I have got as far as g.g.g.grandmother Sarah Aplin b.1791 from Membury but have not yet found her husband. On the Summers side (Hannah's side), g.g.grandfather James Summers b. 1799 and g.g.grandmother Ann (don't know maiden name) b. 1807 Wootton Fitzpaine, Dorset. Should appreciate any information whatever on these lines, please.

Hi, I have traced family back to Stockland and james summers. Elizabeth Summers, sister of Robert and Hannah, who married Robert Thomas Bromfield. The name of Powell will help as I was stuck there. Any other help on either summers/bromfield would be appreciated

Thank you Merv for info on Ann Powell, have since found out. However, not been able to carry on any further research in recent months as have been ill, but hope to be able to carry on again shortly.

Hi Pauline, in looking through my Summers I can inform you that the surname of your g. g. grandmother Ann before she married James Summers, was Powell. Your g.g.grandfather James was brother to my g.g.g.grandfather Robert. Research reveals that when aged 11 James was indentured to James Hill or Hull of Rose, Stockland, for 10 years. Maybe someone on the boards can enlighten us to Rose? Maybe a farm/estate? Hope this helps. regards, Merv

Hi, I have a Elizabeth Ann Bazley in my tree married to Malachi Bond in March 1868. They are my gg grandparents. Elizabeth Ann Bazley parents are George Bazley born 1808 and Sarah (I have it as nee Venn born Membury 1808) Must be a connection dont you think? Reagards Sue
