My husband is descended from Samuel Newberry Goff/Gough who was born in Stockland in 1783, the son of Thomas Newberry Gough and, I think, Ann Beer. He and two siblings John and Ann moved to Donyatt, Somerset in the early 19th century, possibly with their mother Ann. Would be interested to know if anyone knows how the double name originated. It seems to go back to the 17th century.
