I'm trying to find the birth certificate for Joseph Harris born c.1863 in Stockland so that I can trace his parents. He married Rhoda Webby Farrant in May 1883 in the Parish Church, Broadwindsor. According to the marriage certificate his father was William Harris. I have found a William Harris on the 1871 census and his wife's name is Sarah Jane. Unfortunately information gathered by my late cousin shows William's wife as Hannah Dunster. Any information would be much appreciated! Thanks

Nigel, Sorry for my extremely belated reply! I had initially checked the website at regular intervals for replies but had then given up. Since then my research has moved on considerably so I had forgotten about this site. I had found 14 of George & Rhoda's children and then on the 1901 census their grandson, Harry Strawbridge. Rhoda Farrant was my great-great aunt, eldest of fifteen children of George Farrant and Rhoda Webby, who were married in May 1861, I believe at Chard, and lived in Yarcombe.

Hi Mo, You can apply for a marriage certificate at the register office for the area which I believe comes under Beaminster, Somerset. I will take a look and see if I have an address and will leave another message if I find it. Jo
