Hi, I am descended from Lucy Letten (b.1761 Offwell, daughter of Abraham Letten & Mary (nee Harris)via her marriage to John Searle (1st July 1782, Offwell). I have managed to trace the Lettens back to William Letten (christened 1608 Offwell) so we go back a long way! Let me know if you require any more info. Carolyn

Hi Brian, dont know if this helps but we may be related somehow. This is what I posted on here quite a while ago now................My grandfather Henry Letten was born in 1918 in a village called Offwell in Devon. His father Samuel Letten also born in Offwell around 1876 married Bessie Mary Wood born in Stockland 1882. My grandfather knew that his mother was in some way related to Sir Henry Wood (last night of the proms)and I am trying to find out how. Unfortunately Wood unlike Letten is a popular surname and I am having difficulty even locating Bessie's family. Any information would be appreciated, Julie Ferry (nee Letten)
