Stockland Fair
Stockland Fair is held every year on the Late Spring Bank Holiday, in the grounds of the Victory Hall. It is a wonderful community event, everyone mucking in to do something.
The Fair's Royal Charter extends back to 1252, in the reign of King Henry III. The charter was confirmed and amended in the years 1280, 1447 and 1512. A copy of the current Charter may be found on display in the church.
Proceeds from the Fair are distributed amongst the village organisations, with a donation to a local charity.
At the Fair, one could expect to find:
- Falconry Display
- "Stockland Eggathon"
- Jarvo's Rack Saw Bench and Cider Tent
- "The Stockland Steeplechase"
- Tossing the Sheaf
- Punch and Judy and other entertainments
- Children's Face Painting
- Rides and attractions
- Craft Stalls and local Craft Displays
- Various Games and Sideshows
- The Honiton Band
- Displays of Traditional Crafts and Skills
- Stalls selling locally produced food and plants
- ....and of course a fully licensed bar!
