Honiton Freecycle

Contributed by Pete Redfern (pete_redfern_ok[at]yahoo.co.uk)

Some of you may be aware of a web based recycling organisation called Freecyle, who stage themselves on Yahoo groups. They are a bunch of people who all have one thing in common, they are committed to reducing the amount of items that are sent to landfill sites.

Freecycle is a worldwide organsation, and most towns & cities within the UK now have their own group. I first came across Freecycle a few weeks ago, and after looking into the fantastic work that is being undertaken by its members, I decided to put myself forward as a moderator for a new Freecycle group, as the nearest one to my home town (Honiton) was Exeter.

I was successful in my application, and I have just been accepted to run a new group which I have named Honiton Freecycle. The reason for this posting to ask all of you who live in Honiton, and the surrounding towns & villages to join me in making this new group a success. It really is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in recycling from the comfort of your own home.

Rather than me explain exactly how Freecycle works, can I urge you all to go to the Freecycle website, and see for yourself, and even take a look at other, more established groups to see how it all works.

Thank you for reading this, and hopefully our paths will cross again soon, as we all work together in making this planet of ours, a much nicer place to be.
