The British have an uncanny preoccupation with the weather; could it be anything to do with the fact that we have one of the world's most rapidly changing climates?

The Meteorological Office is the "official" source of weather information in England. Our nearest weather station is Dunkeswell.
If you want to know about weather in far-off places, have a look at Weather Underground. This is an American site, but gives conditions and forecasts all over the world. Highly recommended.
